easyJet expands at Copenhagen opening new routes to Paris and Basel from CPH Go

“We have worked closely with Copenhagen Airport on the development of CPH Go, and we are very pleased that CPH has used our input in the design and processes. We therefore look forward to becoming the first airline to start using the facilities. Although we would have liked to see even lower charges for using CPH Go, CPH has demonstrated their support for low-cost traffic, and we are committed to sustaining the growth in Copenhagen, said Thomas Haagensen, easyJet’s Regional Manager, Northern Europe.

“easyJet’s routes from Copenhagen including the new routes to Paris and Basel are to cities and airports where the airline holds a strong position. Consequently, already from day one there is a fifty/fifty split of outbound Danes/Swedes and inbound international passengers. This will bring many leisure and business travellers to Denmark. These routes therefore have a particularly high value for Denmark as compared with routes on which 90% of passengers are departing Danes and Swedes, said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales for Copenhagen Airports.

The two new routes will increase the total number of daily easyJet frequencies out of Copenhagen from eight to ten: London (Stansted and Gatwick), Berlin, Milan, Manchester, Geneva and now also Paris and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. In 2008, easyJet carried 375,000 passengers out of Copenhagen, in 2009, the number had increased to 600,000 and it is expected that the number will increase by an additional 30% in 2010 to 780,000 passengers.
