Credit history no longer a problem for cell phone customers

In the beginning customers had to undergo a credit check and sign a contract of long-term commitment to only be considered for a mobile phone. However, that is no longer the case. While these scenarios still exist, there are many other options for consumers who want to avoid a long-term contract or past credit problems.

prepaid mobile phones are fast

with the standard wireless users. This innovative new approach requires no credit check, no contract and no obligation. In addition, consumers pay as they go with the purchase of prepaid phone cards that they can add minutes to their mobile phone account. Often used on the internet or through a regular phone, mobile phone airtime cards can be activated quickly with minutes is applied immediately.

many parents find it necessary that

their child a cell phone. This is a good idea for many reasons, including the ability of the child to always have a way to get in touch with their parents. In order to avoid imposing an excessive phone bill of calling friends and admirers, many parents choose for prepaid mobile phones to have better control over the activity of the phone. A pre-paid number of minutes is more likely to be used in a responsible manner than that which is unlimited.

TracFone

, one of the leading providers of wireless prepaid cell phone, require their customers to add airtime once every two months to keep their account active. Consumers spend $ 18.99 for 40 minutes, on average less than $ 10.00 per month. No contracts and no credit checks allow for guaranteed approval and no embarrassing denials. Compared with conventional wireless providers who offer a minimum monthly fee and require a long-term commitment, win TracFone and other pre-paid wireless carriers steadily in popularity.

pre-paid mobile phone users have the same benefits of other customers in that they can call the Office at home or while traveling, while at home or even if stranded along the road with the car problems. In addition, a free voice mail service often offered pre-paid wireless companies, including TracFone.

Last Minute Cheap Holidays Could Have Hidden Costs for British Travellers

    September 15, 2010

A recent survey by Sainsbury’s credit cards found that 1.28 million travellers had booked their holiday just two weeks before travelling, while a further 528,000 had booked their holiday just seven days before departure. While a last minute holiday can be considerably cheaper than a holiday that’s been booked months in advance, many travellers are unaware of their destination’s entry requirements, meaning that these cheap holidays could end up being a little more taxing than originally thought.

“Last minute holidays are a great way to save money, but they can have hidden costs. But many people simply aren’t aware that some foreign countries have strict entry requirements in place that foreign nationals entering the country must abide by,says Ian Raine of online holiday firm ulookubook.com

While this may come as a surprise to some people who are searching for inexpensive breaks, many popular holiday destinations require tourists to have visas before they fly. Places such as Egypt, which is popular for its Sharm el Sheikh holidays requires visitors to apply for a visa if they plan to stay in the region for longer than 14 days, and those who travel the country without a visa will face difficulties when arriving.

“If you don’t get a visa before you go on holiday, or can’t produce them on arrival, then depending on the country, you will have to buy one at the airport, which will delay the start of your holiday, or you could even face a fine. So if you want to avoid any lengthy delays or charges, then the best thing to do is research your destination before you book. If you’re unsure of what visas or documentation you need to take with you, check the travel advice provided on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website to see the up to date traveller information on your chosen country, says Raine.

Visa International Celebrates 1 Millionth ATM

    Amman, Jordan December 1, 2005

Visa International, the world’s leading payment organisation, recently announced its 1 millionth Visa automated teller machine (ATM), allowing Visa cardholders to conveniently withdraw cash at any location worldwide. With ATMs located in more than 160 countries around the world, Visa is the most widely accepted card providing cardholders an array of convenient payment solutions for their everyday spending.

In the last twenty years Visa’s global ATM network has grown from 13,000 ATM’s in six countries in 1985 to 254,000 ATMs in 90 countries in 1995. Today this figure has quadrupled to reach 1 million ATMs. The growth in the number of ATMs has led to increased Visa card use, with more than 1 billion Visa/PLUS ATM transactions made during 2004, representing more than US$87.5 billion in cash withdrawals.

The number of Visa ATMs in Lebanon and Jordan combined from June 2004-2005 grew 12%, with this increase in numbers bringing added convenience to local cardholders across the region. As the Visa global ATM network continues to expand, Visa cardholders are increasingly able to obtain local currency and complete required services when traveling abroad, making Visa the preferred option for everyone.

Mr. Said Shuqom, Visa International General Manager for the Levant said, “Visa cardholders expect to be able to choose how they access their funds, whether through debit cards, credit cards or through an ATM. Our goal is to provide that choice and convenience. In doing so, we not only provide a service to Visa/PLUS cardholders but also help them to support local economies through spending on travel and tourism.

The Visa global ATM network encompasses PLUS, Visa’s global mark for ATMs. Visa/PLUS ATMs provide cash access to funds, generally 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ATM locations around the world can be found through an ATM Locator search tool at http://www.visa.com/atms.

Jetabroad: Australian Tourists Flock to New York City

    (Vocus/) 8 March 2011

A recent report has indicated that Australians are travelling to New York City in incredible numbers. NYC&Company, the city’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organisation, reported that more than 500,000 Australians visited the metropolis in 2010, and the authority only expects these numbers to increase in 2011. Online holiday experts Jetabroad also found that the city is becoming increasingly popular. Darin Walters, MD of Jetabroad, comments: “In 2010 we found that there was a very significant increase in Australians travelling to the city from airports in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

According to Walters the increased popularity of the city can be partially attributed to the recent strength of the Australian dollar, which has made travelling to the United States much more affordable. He states: “Many of our customers at Jetabroad are taking advantage of these circumstances to book dream holidays at excellent prices. New York City is one of the most appealing destinations in the world, and Australians have not hesitated to visit it in this past year.

Statistics from NYC&Company reveal that New York City is a popular destination for tourists from all around the world. In 2010, an astounding 48.7 million visitors ventured to the city, making it one of the most visited places in the world.

Walters concludes that the recent surge of Australian tourists is not surprising given the exchange rates between Australia and the United States, and the enduring popularity of the city. He states: “New York City is one of the most amazing places to visit in the world: from the shops on Park Avenue to its collection of museums and restaurants, this city truly has it all. Indeed, for any avid traveller, some time there is absolutely essential. Given the recent performance of the Australian dollar we are not surprised to learn that 500,000 Aussies came to New York City in 2010, and we expect even more people to venture there in 2011.

Share the Energy During Willow Stream Spas Season of Giving

    Toronto, Canada November 11, 2009

At the end of every treatment at a Willow Stream or Fairmont Spa location, spa guests are presented with a sealed Gratitude Envelope containing a surprise spa offering that can be gifted to anyone, including themselves, and used when booking spa in the future. The Spa it Forward program started October 15 and ends December 31, 2009 (with redemptions allowed until January 31, 2010) these offers include $25.00 spa credits towards the purchase of a spa experience or spa retail product as well as a Spa it Forward Gratitude envelope that includes a "Day of Spa" for two 90 minute treatments and a spa bento box lunch.

    Willow Stream Spa Gift Cards
When guests purchase spa gift cards of $250.00 or more this season, Willow Stream will include a special added gift. Gift cards for women will be presented in Willow Stream&39;s beauty travel bag (a $25.00 retail value). These beautiful and fashionable bags are great travelers and the element stone design is exclusive to Willow Stream spas. If purchasing spa gift cards for men, Willow Stream will include a Power Shower gift set for men, which includes Willow Stream&39;s energizing shower products presented in a pre-wrapped gift bag presentation.

    Willow Stream&39;s Gratitude Circle
Available exclusively at Willow Stream Spas, the Gratitude Circle is an initiative that allows spa goers the chance to make an impact in their communities with an attitude of gratitude while doing something healthy for themselves. The concept is quite simple; spa guests register their unofficial group of friends at their local Willow Stream Spa. They can register their book club, golf team or neighborhood gardening group, or just their group of girlfriends. They then select a registered charity or not-for-profit to receive a percentage of spa sales every time they spa. Willow Stream then issues a charitable donation of 10% of their total spa bill (including treatments, retail and meals, excluding taxes and gratuities) to the charity of their choice, each quarter.

    The Gratitude Bowl
Willow Stream has created a new way to share the energy and excitement of the holiday season with their Gratitude Bowl. Willow Stream spa guests can participate by making sure to jot down what they are truly grateful for and place it in the Gratitude Bowl at all participating spas. Each month, the spa will draw one name from the bowl to give a $100 gift card towards a Willow Stream spa experience.

"People feel good when they come out of the spa and receive a special surprise to pass along to a friend. Willow Stream would like to help celebrate and thank their guests and community with this program. The season of giving is a great time of year to feel and share the energy of the season." explains Anne McCall Wilson, Vice President Spas, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International.

Guests can stay connected through group threads on Facebook and Twitter pages, http://twitter.com/willowstream, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Willow-Stream-A-Fairmont-Spa/77288875008.

Prepare for Retirement by Safeguarding Your Credit Score

San Mateo, CA January 31, 2007

This year, the oldest Baby Boomers turn 61, meaning that the United States has officially begun the race to Baby-Boomer retirement. With many thousands of Americans retiring each year, and the number expected to grow, Bills.com co-founder and co-CEO Brad Stroh suggests that those entering their "golden years" check their credit scores before giving up their paychecks or moving into their retirement homes.

"People considering retirement should remember that their credit scores -- and the creditors that scrutinize it -- will not disappear with the first withdrawals from retirement funds," Stroh said.

Credit scores incorporate credit history, amount of credit available and used, number of late and on-time payments and whether any payments due are in default. Creditors also analyze other factors, including debt and payment history relative to income -- one factor sure to change at retirement. Some creditors also consider job history, which ends when an employee leaves full-time employment.

Credit scores fall in a range between 300 and 850, with higher numbers indicating a greater likelihood of repaying debt. A score below 680 usually results in a borrower being charged a higher interest rate or denied credit. To maintain a credit score that will make for an enjoyable post-retirement life, Stroh suggests the following:

    1. Before retirement, focus on investing. Eliminate credit card debt by funneling money previously used to shop, dine out or travel to paying debt, and then into retirement savings. People age 50 and over can contribute $20,500 to a 401(k) plan in 2007, and $5,000 to an individual retirement account or Roth IRA. For people younger than 50, those limits are $15,500 for a 401(k) and $4,000 for an IRA.

    2. Live on planned retirement income now. Give retirement a "dry run" by living on your anticipated post-retirement income. Consult a financial planner to determine how much income you will require. Meanwhile, use the savings to pay off remaining debt (including credit cards, vehicles and home mortgages).

    3. Line up insurance. Review insurance needs, including homeowner&39;s, auto, long-term care, umbrella policies and life insurance (which might not even be needed in retirement). If changes are needed, make them while employed. Insurers give their best rates to people with good credit scores, so plan to stay with a policy for a while during the transition to retirement.

    4. Settle into home and financing. If you plan to move to a smaller home or a condominium, consider moving before retiring. You are likely to receive better mortgage terms with your current income than you will later. The tax deductions associated with a move also might benefit you more while employed. Similarly, for the best terms, open any planned home equity line of credit on a home before retirement.

    5. Keep the cards. If you plan to streamline finances, think twice about closing old accounts. Credit scores are partly determined by comparing debt to credit available. Closing unused accounts while maintaining some debt results in a likely higher debt-to-credit ratio, which looks like a greater credit risk -- and lowers credit scores.

    6. Check credit reports now -- and frequently later. Don&39;t retire your vigilance when you retire. Check credit reports at least once a year -- more often if you plan extensive travel, which exposes seniors to greater risk for fraud and identity theft. Free credit reports are available once a year at http://www.annualcreditreport.com. All three credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) offer credit reports online, as needed.

"Retirement is about relaxation," Stroh said. "Make sure you can make the most of it by securing every aspect of your finances first, starting with your credit score."
