Chengdu important in Chinas new economic surge: Canada Ambassador

Canada Ambassador to China David Mulroney said Chengdu is an important city in the new economic surge of China and stressed Canada and Chengdu will strengthen co-operations for future development.

Mr. Mulroney on Monday attended the ceremony to celebrate the establishment of

Chengdu Office of The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC). Mr. Mulroney said on

Tuesday at an interview with local media that the choice of the establishment in Chengdu

is due to the citys modernized infrastructure, educational and scientific resources and comprehensive competitiveness.

Canadian enterprises have wide-range investments in Chengdu, especially in the fields

of finance, aeronautics, education and telecommunications.

The Chengdu Office is one of CCCs 11 offices in China and the sole organization in western China.
